How To Play Online Poker

Money

As with all games you should always decide if you want to play with real or play money. We suggest before depositing any of you own cash to use either play money or join some of the great free roll poker games that are available.

There are many different types of online poker although in this instant we are going to be concentrating on the daddy of online poker, Texas Hold'em Poker.

Texas Hold'em Poker

The game begins with each individual player being dealt two cards face down (So others may not see your cards), with the player in the small blind (the person on the left of the dealer)receiving the first card and the player in the seat right of the dealer receiving the last card. As in Blackjack and the majority of other card games, the deck is a standard 52 card deck with no jokers. These cards are what as known as pocket cards and are the only cards that each player will receive individually. These cards will only be revealed at the showdown (Should the player make it that far).

Flop

It is then up to the players to make their initial bets, this could be high or low depending on what two cards the player holds. The next stage begins with the flop (where we assume that at least two players remain. The flop is where the dealer deals three cards face up, these cards are for all to see as they are part of the two cards that the player does not show open. The flop is followed by a second betting round where players again decide to bet against each other forcing possible folds or increases).

Turn

Once all bets on the table are equal, the next card is shown by the dealer, this is called the Turn. The betting process is repeated until at least 2 players remain for the next stage.

River

The fifth and final card is called "The River". The resulting card means that each player will have two cards to themselves and 5 community cards that all can see. Meaning there are a total of 7 cards to play with. A final round of betting ensues with usually one winner or perhap a tie if the cards are by two players are the same.
